In the past few months, we worked on major improvements to our preview capabilities. Our goal is to make previewing intuitive, simple, and 100% reliable. On October 6th, 2019, the following changes were made:
No Need for URL Parameters and Cookie Targeting
You can now preview drafts of experiences without manually adding URL parameters to a targeting condition. Just save your experience, click preview, and view the experiences on your site as expected.
In the background, we add a hidden targeting condition of url parameter “dyPreview=[CAMPAIGN ID]”, and when you click preview we add the parameter to the URL.
We also did some cookie magic to allow you to browse pages in your site while in preview mode, without having to adjust any URL parameters in the URL.
Preview Variation as You Build Them
Previously, before you could see how a variation would look on your site (with the CSS of the page), you had to save the variation and save the experience. Now you can preview a variation directly in the variation creation window, before it's even saved. It will open your site in a new tab, so you can immediately see how it looks.
Browse Between Variations While Preview
Previously, if you wanted to preview more than one variation, you had to close the preview page, choose the second variation, and click preview again. Now you can toggle between variations directly in the preview mode window.
- Redesigned the onsite preview mode panel
- Improved preview of Item List variations, so you see the variation in all slots
- Improved the workflow by suggesting a new test version when moving from draft to active, to separate data from QA phase and data of published experiences in future reports
- Made emailed preview links available for 45 days
- Fixed many bugs
We hope these changes help you to work faster, and focus more on building great experiences.
