Display acquisition page content on your own domain to ensure strong brand alignment and compatibility with ad networks.
Understanding subdomains
A subdomain is an extension of your root domain that helps organize pages and directories. Examples include:
- promo.example.com
- help.example.com
By creating a dedicated subdomain for your acquisition campaign and configuring a CNAME (canonical name) record, you can link the acquisition page to your custom domain. This allows your campaign content to be displayed at a designated subdomain:
subdomain.example.com/{campaign_identifier}/campaign_name
Benefits of using a custom domain
- Brand trust and recognition: Custom domains enhance credibility. A landing page hosted at offers.yourbrand.com appears more professional and trustworthy than a generic domain, helping build customer confidence.
- Consistent branding across campaigns: A custom domain aligns your marketing efforts under a unified brand identity, creating a seamless user experience.
- Improved SEO performance: Search engines favor consistent branding. Using a custom domain can boost rankings, especially when combined with other SEO strategies.
- Higher engagement rates: Users are more likely to engage with campaigns hosted on familiar, branded domains.
Adding your domain to acquisition pages
Step 1: Create a custom subdomain
Choose a unique subdomain that isn’t already in use and share it with the Dynamic Yield team.
Your custom subdomain should follow this format:
-
- [region]marketing.bank_name.com
- [promo_name].bank_name.com
- [region].bank_name.com
Dynamic Yield will send you an email with the required CNAME record. Make sure you've received this email before proceeding to the next step.
Best practices for custom domains
- Keep it short, memorable, and easy to spell.
- Use relevant keywords to enhance SEO.
Step 2: Configure the CNAME record in your DNS provider
A CNAME record redirects traffic from your subdomain to the acquisition page hosted on the Dynamic Yield servers. To configure the CNAME record in your DNS provider, do the following:
- Log in to your DNS hosting provider and navigate to DNS management.
- Add the provided CNAME record.
- Ensure the record is configured within 72 hours. Otherwise, a new record will be needed.
- Notify the Dynamic Yield team when the setup is complete.
Step 3: Test your custom domain
When your custom domain is ready, you can test a campaign on your branded URL.
