Global filtering rules enable you to define include or exclude criteria once and apply them across multiple recommendation strategies. This reduces manual setup, ensures consistent merchandising logic, and helps maintain compliance across your account. Common use cases include excluding restricted products (for example, alcohol or tobacco), filtering out low-inventory items, and applying seasonal rules globally (for example, Black Friday promotions).
View and manage your global rules in the Global Rules tab. You can filter the view, and edit, archive, delete, or duplicate rules.
How global filtering rules work
Global filtering rules provide a centralized way to manage dynamic recommendation filtering. You define a rule in the Recommendation Strategies area, then apply it to either all existing and future strategies or selected strategies.
Available rule types:
- Include: Show only products that match the defined conditions
- Exclude: Prevent products that match the defined conditions from appearing in recommendations
When applied, global rules appear in each strategy’s Filters section, marked with a Global Rule indicator.
Global rules are evaluated the same way as custom recommendation filters, but they are fixed and can't be reordered or reprioritized within strategies. Pin rules are not supported.
