This article walks you through creating an Acquisition Pages campaign, from building experiences and variations to configuring page properties and publishing your page.
Step 1: Create a new campaign
- In Acquisition Pages › Campaigns tab, click Create Campaign.
- Name your campaign, and optionally, add labels or notes.
- In the Experiences panel, click Create Experience.
Step 2: Create the default experience
The first experience is the mandatory default experience. It always targets all users and acts as a fallback if the active campaign targeting conditions don't apply to a visitor. The experience can include multiple variations for A/B testing.
- In the default experience box, click the image area.
- Select the first block for the variation: Either Dynamic Content or Overlay
- Configure the block. Selecting the block creates the first variation.
Step 3: Configure variation blocks
Dynamic Content replaces static content on a page with personalized content, without modifying the underlying design.
- Select Dynamic Content.
- Select a template.
- In the Design step, configure the content and design settings required by the selected template. These settings can include variables, fonts, colors, images, and other variation content.
- Click Save.
See the Working with templates section that follows for more information.
Overlay blocks enable you to display content on top of a page to capture visitor attention and encourage specific actions.
- Select Overlay.
- In the Settings step, configure the following settings, and then click Next:
- Trigger: Determine what causes the overlay to display. See the following table for details.
- Frequency: Set how often the overlay is displayed. You can choose once per visit or set a cooldown period to wait before the overlay is displayed again after the initial trigger.
- Position on screen: Center, top, or bottom
- Backdrop settings: Background color and opacity
- Closing behavior: Multiple selections are supported.
- Select a template, and click Next.
- In the Design step, configure the content and design settings as needed in the selected template.
- Click Save.
Trigger settings
| Trigger | Description |
|---|---|
| Page Load | Display when the page loads |
| Time on Page | Display after a specified delay |
| Scroll Depth | Display after the user reaches a specified percentage of the page |
| Scroll Up | Display when the user scrolls upward |
| Click Action | Display when a configured element is clicked |

Add and manage blocks in a variation
Each variation can contain multiple Dynamic Content and Overlay blocks.

- To manage an existing block, click the block in the preview area, and from the action bar select to Delete, Edit, or Duplicate the block.
-
Repeat these steps until the variation contains all the required blocks and content.
Step 4: Create and manage additional variations
Create additional variations to run an A/B test within an experience. The primary metric measured for Acquisition Pages A/B tests is always click-through rate (CTR).
Create the variations
- In the experience panel, click Create Variation.
- Select Dynamic Content or Overlay to create the variation and add its first block.
- Configure and add blocks as described in Step 3.
- Repeat for as many variations as needed.
Manage the variations
In the experience pane, you can do the following:
- Allocate the percentage of users who should receive each variation.
- Use the eye icon to select the variation displayed in the main preview pane.
- Click the 3-dot icon to display additional actions. Here you can select to Duplicate, Pause, or Delete the variation.
Step 5: Add targeted experiences
After configuring the default experience, you can add experiences that target specific users, pages, or times.
- In the Experiences panel, click Create Experience.
- Click the edit icon next to Show this experience to.
- Configure the Who?, Where?, and When? targeting conditions. See the tables that follow in the Targeting conditions section for details.
- Click Save.
- Your first variation is ready to configure. Select the block you want to create (see Add and manage blocks in a variation).
- Create and allocate any additional variations required for the experience.
Step 6: Preview the campaign
- Click the eye icon for the variation you want to preview.
- Use the preview bar at the top of the campaign editor to select the device and block to preview.
Step 7: Publish the campaign
- Repeat the configuration steps until each experience contains the required targeting and variations, and each variation includes the required content and user allocation.
-
Click Publish.
Step 8: Configure the page properties
Click the gear icon at the top of the campaign editor, and set the following properties:
-
Page URL: The URL uses the following format:
global.serving/ap/unique_identifier/unique_name_per_section
Enter a unique name for the route. The complete URL is displayed after you publish the page.
- Favicon: An icon that appears on the browser tab and helps users identify the brand. The image should be 36 × 36 pixels.
-
Page metadata:
Setting Description Title Enter the page title that appears on the browser tab and in search results. Page description Enter a brief summary of the page. The description appears beneath the title in search results. Keywords Enter relevant keywords separated by commas. Additional <head> meta tags Add any additional meta tags to the page header. Allow search engines to index this acquisition page in search results Enable this option to make the page available for search engine indexing.
Step 9: Select an implementation method
By default, the acquisition page is hosted by Dynamic Yield. However, you can choose to use one of the following methods:
- Custom domain: Host the page on a customer-managed domain. For details, see Connecting Your Domain to Acquisition Pages.
-
Embed on your site in an iframe: Embed the page on an existing customer site. Click Generate Code
on the campaign row to get the embed snippet. For details, see Embed an Acquisition Page via iframe.
