Acquisition Pages experience reports
The Acquisition Pages report includes the following sections:
- Variation Performance: Helps you understand how each variation performed according to available metrics and audience breakdown.
- Block Performance: Provides information about impressions, clicks, and conversion for each content block.
- Click Elements Performance: Provides information about click-through rates (CTR) for each clickable element on the page (URLs and buttons).
Variation performance
Variation Performance helps you compare the performance of the variations included in an A/B test. The default view shows impressions, clicks, CTR, and probability to be best for each variation.
You can gain additional insight by breaking down the report according to audiences.
Audience breakdown
Audience Breakdown enables you to analyze variation performance across different contextual audiences. This helps answer questions such as:
- How did traffic from different sources perform in the test?
- Which variation performed best for mobile visitors?
- Which variation performed best for desktop visitors?
- Does a specific audience respond differently to a particular experience?
Audience Breakdown uses aggregated reporting and analysis while remaining fully privacy-compliant and non-identifying.
To break down the report according to audiences:
→ Click Audience Breakdown, and select the audience type you want to view.
Supported audiences
Available out of the box:
- Traffic Source
- Device Type
Must be created manually:
- Operating System
- Browser Name
After reviewing audience-level performance, you can determine whether to:
- Serve the winning variation to all visitors
- Create targeted experiences for specific audiences
- Continue testing to gather additional insights
Important: Audience Breakdown considers a visitor to belong to an audience only if the visitor was part of that audience at the time of the first interaction with the tested variation. If the visitor enters the audience after the first interaction, the visitor isn't included in that audience's breakdown.
Additional settings and views
- Click the 3-dot icon to configure the following setting for your report:
- Exclude outliers: Activated by default, this helps keep your test results relevant by excluding extreme values.
- Credible intervals visualization: Activate to change the view of the credible intervals to a more graphical display.
- At the bottom of the Variation Performance report, you can click Data Over Time to view a graph of the variations' performance by a selected metric over a defined time period.
Block performance
A single acquisition page variation can contain multiple Dynamic Content and Overlay blocks. The Block Performance report provides visibility into how each block contributes to overall engagement, including impressions, clicks, and CTR. Use this report to identify which sections of the page attract the most engagement and which blocks may require further optimization.
Click Elements performance
The Click Elements report provides a detailed breakdown by variation, showing how visitors interact with individual clickable elements within a page. Use this report to understand exactly where visitors engage within the Acquisition Page and which calls to action generate the highest interaction.
Data included in the report:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Variation | Identifies the variation where the clickable element appears |
| Block | The block that contains the clickable element |
| Click Element | The specific interactive element, such as a button, text link, or image, that visitors can click. This allows clicks to be attributed to the exact element that generated them. |
| Clicks | Total number of clicks recorded for the element |
| Share of Clicks | The percentage of total clicks within the variation attributed to that element |
Best practice: Give each clickable element its own link variable
For accurate reporting in the Clickable Elements Performance report, every clickable element on the page should have its own unique link variable, even if multiple elements point to the same destination URL.
If two or more clickable elements share the same link variable, their clicks are combined in the report, making it impossible to determine which element visitors actually clicked.
Example
If a page includes:
- A Learn More button in the header
- A Go to Homepage link in the footer
- A Help text link in the page body
Create separate variables for each element:
- header_learn_more_link
- footer_homepage_link
- body_help_link
Even if all three variables point to the same destination URL, each element appears separately in the Clickable Elements Performance report, enabling accurate analysis of visitor engagement and helping identify which page elements drive clicks and conversions.
Sample use case: Diagnosing CTA placement on a credit card acquisition page
A bank launches an Acquisition Pages campaign promoting a new rewards credit card. The page includes multiple clickable elements designed to guide visitors toward applying:
- A hero CTA: An Apply Now button at the top of the page
- A Rewards Details link within the benefits section
- A Rates & Fees link near the application section
- A footer CTA: Start Application button
The Variation Performance report shows a 7% CTR, indicating healthy engagement. The Clickable Elements Performance report reveals which of these specific elements drove that engagement, so the bank can identify which messaging and placement resonate most with visitors.
