Brief Explanation For The Use of group_Id Column
The group_id is defined as a grouping of a particular product, in other words, a collection of variations of the same product.
Example: If you have a shirt in several colors - each color will have a unique SKU but all of them will have the same group_id.
There are two main purposes for the use of the group_id column:
- The recommendation widgets should not display the same product, this is why it shows only one product from each group_id.
- Social proof is meant to display the views/purchases of a product, it is logical to include all of the product's variations.

We are getting started with Recommendation and I have to say, the documentation one can find about it is pretty poor. Have a nice one!
