Programmatically check for control group

Is there a way to check via javascript if the user is inside a control-group of a certain campaign/experiement/variation?
I know there is a way to access the campaign object via JS, but I haven’t found any info regarding the current active group.
Through this snipped, I would access the active campaign:
DYO.otags[DYNAMIC_CONTENT_ID].rules[0].smartObject;

  Hi Malte,

  You can use DYO.getUserObjectsAndVariations()[1].variations
  with the relevant campaign you want to check
  and see if you are getting variation name or ‘no_action’, which is the control group.
