Faking a Location to QA
Recently, we came into a situation where a customer based in the US wanted to see how an experience running in the UK appeared to UK visitors. Luckily, our DY Support team is amazing (shout out to Ayah Abu Sgayar!) and was able to screenshare. However, I thought it would be helpful for others to know how we like to test from a CS perspective.
There are a few ways this can be done:
1) Use a VPN to change your location
2) Set your location manually: Open the developer console in chrome > at the bottom of the panel, press the three-dot button on the left, and then click the “Sensors” option > Under Geolocation, select a metro or choose “Custom location.” > if you chose "Custom Location", add your desired lat/long > refresh the page.
I've provided a screencast of this process here: https://youtu.be/s4Lnaivp4w4 (in this instance, I look at the Dynamic Yield website > return to google > switch my location to Russia > search Dynamic Yield > go to our site (which I know has a RU version).
There are definitely other ways, too!
Do you have a better/easier way? I'd love to hear it!
