Why is URL parameter in session not working correctly?

Issue:

When using the targeting condition “URL parameter in session” the campaign only works on the page with the URL parameter but does not work on other pages even though it should during the session.

Solution:

This issue can be caused by the normalization settings. Most likely it is set for canonical.

When updating the settings to page URL, it will solve the issue.

The reason why this issue happens is that in the backend when using the condition “URL parameter in session” it created a hidden audience that targets users who visited pages with this URL parameter during the session. Canonical settings may affect the audience result.
